The Chase Bank on Hollywood Boulevard occupies the former site of the Hillview Apartments. Built in nineteen seventeen, the original complex provided a home for silent film stars like Clara Bow and Rudolph Valentino. The apartments were demolished in the nineteen seventies, replaced by this bank building to serve the growing commercial needs of the district. A concrete vault door from the original building survives inside the lobby, sitting behind the modern teller counters as a relic of a different Hollywood.
