The Sunset Vine Tower wears a distinct white facade of vertical concrete fins, rising twenty stories above the corner of Sunset and Vine. Completed in nineteen sixty-three, it held the title of the tallest building in Hollywood for decades. When it opened, the penthouse restaurant featured a rotating floor that gave diners a slow, panoramic view of the Los Angeles basin. Today, those fins frame hundreds of apartment windows, and the rotating machinery remains locked beneath the roofline, long since retired.
