Seward Park Concrete Slides

The Seward Park slides consist of two steep, side-by-side concrete chutes set directly into the neighborhood hillside. They were designed by a local teenager named Kim Clark in the nineteen seventies as part of a public art project to revitalize this small plot of land. Before the slides arrived, the site was a vacant, trash-strewn lot that neighbors struggled to maintain. Clark successfully petitioned the city to let her build her vision here, creating a permanent, gravity-fueled destination for anyone carrying a piece of cardboard.
