Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center

The Sea Center sits at the end of Stearns Wharf, identified by the large, weathered wooden structure that extends directly over the Pacific Ocean. It began as a small project intended to connect the public with the local marine environment. In nineteen eighty-six, a group of scientists and educators established the space to display live sharks, rays, and jellies found in the Santa Barbara Channel. It remains the primary facility where researchers track the health of these local waters for the public.
