Kettle Arcade

The Kittredge Building features a facade of rough, red sandstone that separates it from the smooth brick and glass of its neighbors. Completed in eighteen ninety-one, it served as a centerpiece for the growing city. Charles M. Kittredge commissioned the structure for his real estate office, but he filled the upper floors with artists and lawyers. When the Silver Crash of eighteen ninety-three hit, the building stayed occupied because tenants bartered their services for rent, keeping the hallways active through the economic depression.
