Denver Union Station

The central clock tower at Denver Union Station mimics the campanile of Saint Mark’s Basilica in Venice. This structure replaced the previous depot that burned down in eighteen ninety-four. While fire destroyed the earlier building, the city salvaged the granite foundation and raised this current station by eighteen eighty-one. Travelers originally arrived here from dozens of different rail lines, making this the primary gateway to the Rocky Mountain West. Today, the station serves as a terminal for regional light rail and Amtrak passengers.
