This humble post signifies the terminal point of a highway that stretches two thousand three hundred sixty-nine miles north to Fort Kent, Maine. In the nineteen eighties, thieves frequently stole the markers for souvenirs, forcing the city to bolt the current sign high onto a concrete post. It remains the most photographed spot in town for road trip travelers.
