Nelson English Park

Nelson English Park features a thick canopy of mature trees shading a quiet stretch of green space along the street. This land was once part of the estate of Nelson English, a formerly enslaved man who settled in Key West after the Civil War. He became a prominent local contractor and a pillar of the Black community in the late nineteenth century. He donated this property for public use, ensuring the neighborhood maintained a dedicated space for gathering and recreation.
