Mel Fisher Maritime Museum

The Mel Fisher Maritime Museum is defined by the massive, oxidised iron anchor sitting near its entrance. This building houses the recovered treasure and artifacts from the Atocha, a Spanish galleon that sank during a hurricane in sixteen twenty-two. Mel Fisher spent sixteen years searching the ocean floor before his team finally located the wreckage in nineteen eighty-five. The gold bars, emeralds, and silver coins displayed inside remain the core of the collection, salvaged from beneath the shifting Atlantic sands.
