The Turtle Cannery Museum sits inside the original processing plant for the Hyatt Canning Company. A wide, low building covered in corrugated metal, it housed the town’s primary industry for decades. Workers hauled the live turtles onto the wooden docks, processing them on-site until the supply dwindled and the factory closed its heavy doors in the nineteen seventies.
