Bahama Gardens

The Bahama Gardens feature a collection of historic wooden houses painted in bright, tropical colors with wide porches. These structures were originally homes for cigar makers and shipbuilders who migrated from the Bahamas in the mid-nineteenth century. They constructed these buildings using native hardwoods and local architectural styles brought over from their home islands. Today, these houses remain as private residences tucked into quiet lanes, maintained for their character and the specific history of the Bahamian laborers who settled this part of Key West.
