Saint Peter's Episcopal Church

Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church features a distinctive, bright white exterior with sharp, dark blue shutters that stand out against the tropical sun. It began as a mission church in the late nineteenth century to serve the island’s growing Black population, specifically laborers from the Bahamas. When a hurricane destroyed the original structure in nineteen oh nine, congregants gathered to rebuild it themselves. They incorporated local pine, creating a modest, airy sanctuary that has survived over a century of Atlantic storms.
