Block 37

other

The building at Block thirty-seven features a glass facade and a high atrium that cuts through the center of the block. For decades, this land remained a gaping hole in the middle of downtown Chicago. In the nineteen eighties, city planners cleared the entire square block to make room for a massive retail project that never materialized. The site sat as a fenced-off pit for twenty years, earning the nickname the Great Chicago Hole, before construction finally finished in two thousand nine.
