The Carousel Bar & Lounge

food drink

The Carousel Bar rotates on a floor of gears, pulling a circular canopy behind it at a rate of one revolution every fifteen minutes. This bar sits inside the Hotel Monteleone, where it replaced a traditional lobby lounge in nineteen forty-nine. Antonio Monteleone wanted to draw locals away from the street and deeper into the hotel, so he commissioned a merry-go-round centerpiece. Writers like Truman Capote and Tennessee Williams eventually claimed seats here, watching the room slowly drift past them.
