The Cotton Mill

The Cotton Mill is a massive, eight-story brick warehouse on Commerce Street, easily identified by the ghost sign of the Fulton Bag and Cotton Mills company still painted on its exterior wall. Built in nineteen oh two, the structure functioned as a manufacturing hub where workers processed raw cotton into flour sacks and burlap bags. It survived the decline of the city’s industrial waterfront, eventually closing in the nineteen eighties and undergoing a renovation that turned the manufacturing floors into residential loft apartments.
