Preservation Resource Center

The Preservation Resource Center occupies a narrow, two-story Italianate townhouse on Camp Street distinguished by its prominent, ornate cast-iron balcony. Built in the eighteen seventies, this structure originally served as a private residence. In nineteen seventy-four, a group of neighbors rescued the building from demolition to create a headquarters for saving the city's architectural heritage. They filled the interior with specialized workshops, where homeowners learned how to strip paint, repair plaster, and stabilize foundations to keep these wooden houses standing.
