South Street Diner

The stainless steel exterior of the South Street Diner stands out against the brick and stone of the surrounding Leather District. Built in nineteen forty-six by the Worcester Lunch Car Company, this diner moved to its present location on the corner of Kneeland and South Streets in nineteen fifty-seven. It remains one of the few places in Boston that welcomes diners twenty-four hours a day, serving regulars and late-night crowds from the same chrome-trimmed booths that have occupied this footprint for decades.
