Guttenberg/North Bergen Waterfront Park

park garden

The Guttenberg and North Bergen Waterfront Park is a modern addition to this stretch of the Hudson River. It officially opened in twenty fourteen as a collaborative effort between the two municipalities to reclaim and repurpose this narrow strip of land for public use. Before this park existed, this area was characterized by a long history of industrial and ferry activity that once defined the entire riverfront. By creating this space, the towns established a permanent public gateway to the river, ensuring that the shoreline remained accessible to residents and visitors rather than being entirely enclosed by private residential development.
