Galaxy Towers

The Galaxy Towers rise from the edge of the Hudson Palisades, a dramatic geological formation that required the buildings to be deeply anchored into the cliffside itself. Completed in 1976, this Brutalist complex consists of three forty-four-story towers and two shorter connecting structures. The buildings feature a distinctive octagonal design, an intentional choice made by the architects to ensure that as many apartments as possible capture unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline across the river. Because of this unique configuration, the complex functions as a dense, self-contained community, with roughly one-fifth of the entire population of the town of Guttenberg living within its walls.
