Amir Temur Mausoleum Gur-i Amir Сomplex

The Gur-i Amir is capped by a ribbed, azure dome that swells like a massive turquoise onion against the Samarkand sky. This structure holds the remains of Amir Temur, who conquered lands from Turkey to India in the fourteenth century. When his grandson Muhammad Sultan died, Temur commissioned this mausoleum to house his favorite heir. After Temur died unexpectedly during a campaign in fourteen oh five, the builders added his tomb beneath the same roof, cementing the site as the final resting place of the Timurid dynasty.
