Historic Building (Tolmasov's Home)

The Tolmasov house features a distinctive, heavily carved wooden facade that sits low against the street, separating it from the neighboring plaster structures. Built in the late nineteenth century by a prominent merchant, it survived the Soviet era because it served as a communal apartment block for several decades. Most people walk past it today without realizing that the interior still holds a traditional courtyard layout, designed to keep the family living quarters completely separate from the public street outside.
