Islam Karimov's Statue

Karimov served as the first president of Uzbekistan from the nation's independence in nineteen ninety-one until his death in twenty sixteen. The sculptor, Ilhom Jabbarov, chose to depict him in a relaxed posture rather than a rigid official pose. This specific site was chosen because Karimov was born in Samarkand, and he often visited this very square.
