Kusam-ibn-Abbas mausoleum

The Kusam-ibn-Abbas mausoleum features a pair of heavy, carved wooden doors dated to thirteen oh four. They guard the burial site of a cousin of the Prophet Muhammad, who allegedly arrived in Samarkand in the seventh century to spread Islam. Local legend claims Kusam was beheaded for his faith but instead of dying, he descended into a deep well with his own head, where he remains alive today. These doors mark the entrance to his final, legendary resting place within the Shah-i-Zinda complex.
