The Victorian Filigree ironwork wrapping the corner of the building at the intersection of Market and George Streets distinguishes this structure from its neighbors. Known as Hong Kong House, the building began its life as the Gresham Hotel in eighteen ninety-two. When it opened, the hotel provided a grand destination for travelers, featuring a prominent corner turret that captured the attention of passersby. Architects McCredie and Anderson designed the site to emphasize decorative iron balconies that define the streetscape even today.
