The former Darlinghurst Police Station features a heavy, dark brick facade and a wide arched entrance that once funneled citizens into a holding cell. Now, Qtopia Sydney occupies these walls, transforming a site of past state surveillance of the LGBTQIA plus community into a space for historical storytelling. In the nineteen seventies, officers frequently detained activists and revelers here during the early Mardi Gras protests. This building holds the record of those arrests, now curated to document a local fight for civil rights.
