Metro Minerva Theatre Building

historic

The Metro Minerva Theatre Building displays a sharp, flat facade of cream-colored brick and wide, horizontal windows that cut through the streetscape. Built in nineteen thirty-nine, the structure functioned as a cinema and a live venue. During the nineteen seventies, the stage hosted the Australian premiere of the musical Hair, which ran for two years. The actors famously performed scenes on the building's roof, drawing crowds who gathered on the sidewalk below to watch the production unfold against the Sydney skyline.
