The Colombian Hotel stands at the corner of Oxford and Crown Streets, distinguished by its tall, curved facade and the expansive arched windows that wrap around the street level. Built in nineteen thirty-five, it replaced an earlier pub on the site known as the Lord Darling. The current structure served as a classic neighborhood watering hole for decades, eventually becoming a centerpiece of Sydney's gay and lesbian nightlife during the eighties, when the building provided a rare safe harbor for the community.
