The Tianjin Gardens feature a prominent stone archway that leads into a landscape designed to mimic the aesthetics of northern China. This space represents a gift from the city of Tianjin to Melbourne in nineteen ninety-six, celebrating their sister city relationship. Craftsmen from Tianjin traveled here to assemble the stone structures and pavilions, using materials imported specifically for the project. These gardens function as a quiet corner of Fitzroy Gardens, defined by its heavy, hand-carved limestone gates and traditional pond designs.
