Treasury Gardens

Treasury Gardens features a series of ornamental ponds and wide, sloping lawns framed by mature Moreton Bay figs and English elms. Established in eighteen sixty-seven, the site reflects the Victorian era's passion for formal landscaping and botanical display. During the nineteenth century, these gardens provided a structured escape for government officials working in the adjacent public buildings. Captain Matthew Flinders, the first explorer to circumnavigate Australia, remains present here as a bronze statue looking over the quiet, manicured pathways.
