Église Notre-Dame de la Dalbade de Toulouse

The bell tower of the Eglise Notre-Dame de la Dalbade sits heavy and dark above the street, built from the same red brick that defines much of Toulouse. This church stands on the site of a sanctuary dating back to the eleventh century, when a chapel held a statue of the Virgin Mary draped in white wool. In fifteen fifty-one, workers finished the current bell tower, but a century later, the original spire collapsed, crushing the roof and damaging the nave below.
