Hôtel d'Astorg

The Hôtel d'Astorg stands out for its high, narrow tower of red brick, capped by a distinctive rounded roof. Built in the sixteenth century for a wealthy merchant named Jean d'Astorg, the house reflects the immense prosperity Toulouse experienced during the height of the woad trade. A carved stone lintel over the entrance still carries the family initials. Jean d'Astorg eventually sold the property after failing to pay his debts, leaving the mansion to later owners who altered its interior over time.
