Georges Bemberg’s Foundation — Hotel of Assézat

museum

The Hotel d'Assézat features a loggia and an open courtyard that mark the height of Renaissance architecture in Toulouse. Built in the mid sixteenth century for Pierre d'Assézat, a merchant who made a fortune in the woad trade, the mansion displays the wealth generated by the regional blue dye industry. Today, it houses the Bemberg Foundation. Georges Bemberg spent decades collecting art, filling the rooms with works by Bonnard, Degas, and old masters, keeping his collection private until his death.
