Place Saint-Pierre

The Place Saint-Pierre features a large, sloping square paved in stone, flanked by rows of bars that stay crowded until the early morning. It sits at the edge of the Garonne River, directly below the remains of the Saint-Pierre des Cuisines church. In the late nineteenth century, this space served as the city’s primary river port, where flat-bottomed boats unloaded construction materials and wine from the surrounding countryside. Today, the bustle shifted from timber and grain to university students and nightlife.
