It takes its name from the martyrdom of Saint Saturnin, the first bishop of Toulouse. Legend says he was dragged to his death by a bull after refusing to sacrifice to Roman idols. The animal bolted down this street, and the site where the bishop’s body finally fell became the foundation for the Church of Notre Dame du Taur.
