Library of Studies and Heritage

The Library of Studies and Heritage sits behind a facade of red brick, distinctive for the stark, geometric lines that replaced its ornate nineteenth-century predecessor. This building houses the municipal archives of Toulouse, holding records that date back to the Middle Ages. In the nineteen seventies, the city replaced the older structure on this site to create a climate-controlled vault for these fragile documents. A single stone medallion from the original building remains, tucked into the modern exterior wall near the main entrance.
