Archipel des Berges de Seine Niki de Saint-Phalle

landmark

The Archipel des Berges de Seine Niki de Saint-Phalle consists of five floating, interconnected garden islands moored along the Left Bank. These wooden decks hold wild grasses, ferns, and willow trees, creating a suspended marshland in the middle of the river. Niki de Saint-Phalle, the sculptor famous for her vibrant, oversized figures, inspired the design through her interest in playful, organic public spaces. The city installed these structures to reclaim the industrial riverbanks for pedestrians and migrating birds.
