Notre-Dame d'Auteuil

The church you are approaching, Notre-Dame d'Auteuil, stands on a site that has served as a place of worship since at least the eleventh century. The current structure, however, is a late nineteenth-century creation, built between 1877 and 1892 to accommodate the rapidly growing population of Auteuil after it was officially annexed into Paris. Its architect, Joseph Auguste Émile Vaudremer, opted for a distinct Romanesque-Byzantine style that was fashionable at the time, moving away from the more common Gothic traditions found elsewhere in the city.
