Place de Sydney sits at the intersection of Rue Saint-Saëns and Rue de l'Ingénieur Robert Keller. It is a small, paved urban triangle defined by the bronze statue of a man in a frock coat standing on a high pedestal. This is the figure of François-René de Chateaubriand, the writer and diplomat who served as France's ambassador to London. The square commemorates the deep diplomatic ties between France and Australia, honoring the city that gave the space its name.
