Pont Métro Cambronne

historic

The Pont de Bir-Hakeim is a steel bridge spanning the Seine with two levels, one for cars and pedestrians, and an upper deck built specifically for the elevated metro line six. When the original bridge was replaced in nineteen oh five, the engineers incorporated decorative masonry pylons and iron sculptures that celebrate historical maritime victories. Among these, the sculpture by Gustave Michel features a woman holding a tablet inscribed with the dates of notable naval battles.
