Promenade Jacques Hébertot

The Promenade Jacques Hébertot stretches as a pedestrian path between the back walls of the Théâtre Hébertot and the surrounding Haussmannian apartment buildings. It is named for the man who turned this space into a stage for modern drama in the early twentieth century. Jacques Hébertot bought the theater in nineteen twenty-five and filled it with plays by Jean Cocteau and works by local surrealists. The walkway keeps his name today, tucked into the quiet, everyday rhythm of the eighth arrondissement.
