The Hôtel Potocki features a massive stone facade heavily adorned with classical columns and a sculptural pediment that sits tucked behind a high, gated wall on Avenue de Friedland. Count Stanislas Potocki, a wealthy Polish aristocrat, commissioned this residence in eighteen seventy-eight to showcase his extensive art collection and host lavish society gatherings. The architect Henri Parent designed the interior with a monumental marble staircase intended to impress every guest arriving for the count’s famous balls, which remained highlights of Parisian social life for decades.
