Montmartre Water Tower

The Montmartre water tower sits as a tall, brick-clad cylinder rising above the rooftops, topped by a metal reservoir that mimics the style of the nearby Saint-Pierre church. Built in nineteen twenty-seven, it replaced an older structure to address the chronic water shortages that plagued the hilltop neighborhood for decades. Local residents once relied on a complex system of pumps and basins just to manage basic daily needs. Engineer Victor Replan designed this tower to finally provide steady pressure to the highest streets.
