Since nineteen twenty-two, this tiny theater has dedicated itself entirely to political satire. During the German occupation of Paris, the director, André Gabriello, famously staged performances that mocked the regime while navigating strict censorship. He once kept the theater running by paying off inspectors with crates of champagne and sheer nerve until the authorities finally shut him down.
