Musée de l'Hospice Comtesse

The Hospice Comtesse stands out because of its high, steeply pitched Flemish roof and a facade that keeps its seventeenth-century appearance long after the building stopped serving as a hospital. Countess Jeanne of Flanders founded the hospice in twelve thirty-seven to care for the poor and sick. The most striking detail remains the wooden staircase inside, built by a local carpenter in the sixteen hundreds, which leads to the former nuns' quarters and still carries the weight of centuries of daily passage.
