Maison Thomassin

landmark

The Maison Thomassin stands out with its facade of exposed stone and a distinctive double-arched gothic window that marks it as the oldest private residence in Lyon. Built around thirteen hundred, this house served as the seat for the local guild of merchants. It became the home of the Thomassin family, who arrived from Italy to manage the city's growing trade. Their crest remains carved into the masonry, a stone record of the time when silk merchants decided the fate of the entire neighborhood.
