La Longue Traboule stretches through four different buildings, connecting two parallel streets with a covered passageway that winds through private courtyards and stone staircases. Silk weavers once used these hidden tunnels to transport their delicate goods across Lyon without exposing them to the rain. During the Second World War, members of the French Resistance ducked into these same corridors to evade German patrols. The heavy wooden doors along the path often masked these secret movements from anyone standing just a few feet away.
