Temple du Change

The Temple du Change features a massive, clock-adorned facade that towers over the Place du Change. Merchants from all over Europe once gathered here to exchange currencies and negotiate trade deals during the Renaissance, back when Lyon served as the banking hub of the continent. Jacques-Germain Soufflot redesigned the exterior in the mid-eighteenth century to accommodate the growing bustle of trade. Bankers eventually moved to more modern offices, leaving the building to the Protestant community, who have held services here since eighteen hundred and three.
