Square de Conflans

The Square de Conflans sits on the site of a former archbishop’s estate, marked by a stone wall that once enclosed private gardens. In the seventeenth century, this land belonged to the Archbishop of Paris, who retreated here to escape the city. When the French Revolution arrived, the state seized the property and dismantled the main residence. Local workers eventually turned the remaining orchard into a public garden, leaving behind only the original stone boundary walls and a sense of quiet containment.
