Gol Chabutra Lane takes its name from a circular stone platform that sits tucked into the bend of this narrow passageway. Long ago, the local residents used this platform as a central meeting point for neighborhood gossip, dispute resolution, and evening gatherings. While the surrounding houses in Bangali Tola have been renovated and expanded over the decades, the stone base of the chabutra remains at street level, preserved by the people who still sit there each morning to drink chai.
