Narad Ghat, (Varanasi)

Narad Ghat stands out for the two wooden effigies of a man and a woman sitting together on a small ledge above the stone steps. It takes its name from the sage Narada, a figure in Hindu mythology known for his skill with the veena. Wealthy donors from the state of Andhra Pradesh constructed this ghat in the nineteenth century. Pilgrims often come here to bathe, believing that an offering made at this spot helps reconcile differences between feuding family members.
